Each spring The Mint Museum Auxiliary plans, produces, and hosts the Room to Bloom Celebration, a premiere fundraiser for The Mint Museum. Since its inception over 60 years ago, this effort has contributed over $13.8 million towards The Mint Museum including funds and acquisitions for the Museum's permanent collection. This marquee kick-off event for the Room to Bloom Celebration will be held at the Mint Museum uptown featuring Tony award winning costume designer, William Ivey Long. Long is a North Carolina native and one of the most renowned theatrical costume designers working today. The Mint Museum exhibition William Ivey Long: Costume Designs 20072016 which will explore Long's most recent work, from 2007 to today. Come hear the highlights of his career designing for over 60 Broadway shows.
This perennially sold-out coffee, lecture and luncheon will be held at the Charlotte Country Club which hosts 500 guests and features a silent auction and book signing. Mark Sikes is an esteemed interior designer known for creating beautiful and timeless interiors that embody an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. He has a talent for mixing American and European, traditional and modern and new and old sensibilities. The author of Beautiful, All American Decorating and Timeless Style, he launched his first American sportswear collection celebrating his lifelong love affair with blue and white stripes.
