With great pleasure and enthusiasm we invite you to join us as a Patron for the 60th Anniversary of the Room to Bloom Celebration. Since its inception six decades ago, this fundraiser has helped the Auxiliary to contribute over $12,000,000 towards The Mint Museum including funds and acquisitions. This year's festivities will commence on Wednesday, April 17 and continue through Friday, May 17. Funds raised this spring will support a year-long art program targeting a Project L.I.F.T school that serves students in an economically challenged Charlotte community. It will also finance a grade level of Charlotte-Mecklenburg School students touring the museum's blockbuster exhibition, Inventing the Modern World: Decorative Arts at the World's Fairs 1851-1939, opening in September 2013. Your patronage is vitally important as it not only allows the Auxiliary to fund these critical educational initiatives, but also sponsor ongoing educational programs for the community and [..] read more

Source: Olivia Fortson http://cltoliviafortson.blogspot.com/2012/10/bright-and-beautiful-behind-scenes-with.html This morning I joined designer Trina Turk at one of my favorite places in Charlotte, The Duke Mansion, for a one-on-one interview. She is as bright and beautiful in person as her colorful clothes. The mansion is the site of a trunk show of her brand's clothes, jewelry and home decor that runs until 5 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow (Oct. 16). Her designs are so well priced and absolutely ooze style and fun that I urge you to check it out. And, 20 percent of the proceeds go to the Mint Museum.Trina is here as the speaker at tonight's Fall EnrichMint Forum at the Mint Museum uptown. Hosted by the Mint Museum Auxiliary, it includes a fashion show and Trina talking about her "Mid-Century Modern Musings." It's sold-out, but here's a link to Trina and some of the models from her appearance with super fan Colleen Odegaard on WCNC's Charlotte Today: http://www.wcnc [..] read more
